Ilsan Paik Hospital shares medical cooperation achievements in Laos

Ilsan Paik Hospital, part of Inje University, held a performance sharing session in Vientiane, Laos, to highlight the results of the 2024–2026 Lee Jong-wook Fellowship clinical program. The event brought together approximately 100 healthcare professionals, including directors from major Laotian national and public hospitals, to discuss medical cooperation between South Korea and Laos.

Through this three-year fellowship, 21 Laotian medical professionals—comprising 14 doctors and 7 nurses—received specialized clinical training in South Korea. Participants presented ‘Action Plans’ designed to implement acquired medical technologies and clinical experiences within their home institutions. Key achievements reported include improvements in pathology and forensic medicine services at Mittaphab Hospital, enhanced management of acute coronary syndrome and heart failure at Mahosot Hospital, and strengthened ECG interpretation capabilities in regional clinics.

Future plans shared by third-year trainees include establishing protocols for traumatic brain injury management, building quality improvement systems for medical services, and updating CPR training manuals at the University of Health Sciences. Medical staff from Ilsan Paik Hospital also conducted site visits to Laotian medical institutions to provide consulting and monitor the practical application of Korean medical techniques.
