Ilunion Hotels expands to 33 properties with new Bilbao hotel

Ilunion Hotels announced the takeover of the Ilunion Abando, a four‑star, 143‑room urban hotel located in central Bilbao. The acquisition, part of the company's 2026‑2029 strategic plan, brings its portfolio to 33 hotels and reinforces its presence in northern Spain, where it already operates Ilunion Bilbao and Ilunion San Mamés. The hotel includes a bar‑café, gym, garage and five event rooms and is situated near major landmarks such as the Guggenheim Museum, the Euskalduna Palace and the Abando train station.

CEO José Ángel Preciados said the addition “reinforces our bet on the north of Spain and shows that hotel excellence can go hand‑in‑hand with profitability and positive impact on people, teams and the environment.” General Director Beatriz Miguel highlighted the chain’s focus on accessible, inclusive hospitality. Ilunion Hotels stresses that its growth model centres on social impact: more than 2,100 employees, around 850 of whom have disabilities, and certifications covering universal accessibility, sustainability and innovation.
