Ilysiakos removes staff member over offensive comment

The basketball department of Ilysiakos has immediately removed a member of its technical staff following a vulgar social media comment directed at Volos FC goalkeeper Mario Siambanis.

The incident occurred following a serious injury sustained by Olympiacos footballer Ayoub El Kaabi during a match against Volos. The club stated that the staff member's comment was “vulgar, offensive, and absolutely unacceptable” toward Siambanis, who has no connection to Ilysiakos.

In an official statement, Ilysiakos condemned the behavior, emphasizing that insults and a lack of respect for athletes and sports professionals are incompatible with the club's values. The decision to remove the staff member was made by the team's coach, Mr. Myriounis.
