Im Mi‑ae vows to continue Kim Boo‑kyum's Daegu voter shift

Democratic Party top‑executive candidate Im Mi‑ae said on July 26 that she will carry forward the change in public opinion in Daegu and North Gyeongsang sparked by former Prime Minister Kim Boo‑kyum’s victory in the June 3 local elections. She argued that voters in the region have little opportunity to hear the party’s policies and pledged to become a dialogue channel between the Democratic Party and the local electorate.

Im Mi‑ae criticized the party’s internal decline in deliberation culture since Lee Jae‑myung’s leadership, citing former leader Chung Cheong‑rae’s tendency to pre‑declare positions and marginalise dissent. She called for a dedicated body to revive intra‑party debate, earlier discussion on prosecutorial supplemental investigation rights, and electoral reform toward a more proportional system to reduce voter disengagement.
