Imaginantes ilustradas digital archive launches for Mexican women illustrators

The Mexican Secretariat of Culture and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) will present ‘Imaginantes ilustradas’ on August 29 at the Museo Nacional de la Estampa. This digital database, created by the collective Sociedad de Tinta, serves as a public archive for the work of Mexican women illustrators and graphic narrators.

The platform aims to centralize profiles, publications, projects, and visual materials that were previously dispersed or unsystematized. Designed as a living archive, the site will allow for continuous updates and is intended for both academic research and the general public. Claudia Curiel de Icaza, the Secretary of Culture, stated that the project strengthens collective memory and democratizes access to knowledge by recognizing the diversity of female creators in the country.
