Imam Youssoupha Sarr dies in Guédiawaye, Senegal

Imam Youssoupha Sarr, a prominent religious and social figure in Guédiawaye, Senegal, has passed away. He served as the spokesperson for the Collective of Imams of Guédiawaye.

Beyond his religious duties, Sarr was recognized for his civic engagement and advocacy for vulnerable populations. He was notably active in mobilizing residents against high living costs and electricity challenges. Starting around 2008-2009, he took a public stand against frequent power outages and billing issues involving Senelec, acting as a voice for the community during energy crises.

His death has caused significant mourning within the Muslim community and among local civic organizations in the Dakar suburbs.
