Imanol Pradales warns against centralization of power in Madrid

During the La Toja Forum, the President of the Basque Country, Imanol Pradales, expressed concern regarding a trend toward the centralization of political, economic, and technological powers in Madrid. Speaking alongside the presidents of Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, and Catalonia, Salvador Illa, Pradales argued that this concentration of power negatively impacts territorial cohesion and creates political tensions.

While emphasizing that the criticism is not directed against the Community of Madrid itself, Pradales stated that the inertia toward centralization is ‘a bad business’ for the stability of the State. The leaders used the debate to advocate for decentralization and territorial stability, though they maintained differing views on regional financing models.
