IMAX delivers massive screens, laser‑bright images and immersive sound

IMAX is a premium motion‑picture format founded in Canada in 1967. It began as large‑format film technology for educational documentaries before expanding to Hollywood blockbusters and now operates in more than 80 countries.

The format features much larger screen dimensions—some stretching floor‑to‑ceiling—and high‑resolution laser projection that provides greater brightness, contrast and colour. IMAX auditoria also use precision‑tuned sound systems that deliver clear dialogue, directional audio and balanced bass. Filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan have employed the large, heavy IMAX cameras for key action sequences, cementing the format’s reputation for an immersive visual experience.
