Imbé de Minas crash kills five, injures one

A white BMW overturned and fell down a steep slope in the rural area of Imbé de Minas, Minas Gerais, on the night of June 6. The accident claimed the lives of five occupants – Romerio Magela da Silva (38), Taize Alves Lopes de Frias Novais (28), Ana Paula Marcolino Ribeiro (24), Alef Jamir dos Reis Silva (24) and Frank Junior Lopes de Frias (25) – while a 30‑year‑old woman was rescued in serious condition and taken to a hospital in Caratinga.

Rescue teams from the Military Fire Department, the State Police and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) responded to the difficult‑to‑access site. The victims were recovered from different points along the slope after the vehicle rolled several times. Authorities are investigating the cause; preliminary reports mention possible alcohol consumption by the occupants. The municipal government expressed condolences and pledged support to the families.
