IMDIS prepares fourth Municipal Award for Mouth and Foot Painters

The Municipal Institute for the Integral Development of Persons with Disabilities (IMDIS) is organizing the fourth edition of the Municipal Award for Mouth and Foot Painters. The event is scheduled for September 10 at the Aula Magna of the University of Los Mochis, coinciding with the World Day of Mouth and Foot Painters observed on September 5.

Carlos Martín Valenzuela Navarro, director of IMDIS, stated that the initiative aims to increase visibility for the capabilities and rights of these artists. The event also marks the 70th anniversary of the international association of mouth and foot painters.

In the Ahome municipality, approximately 70 painters are registered with the international association, with about 35 receiving monthly grants of one thousand euros. Their works are sent to Switzerland for certification and international distribution. The local community includes artists with over 30 years of experience.
