IMF conducts technical visit to Ecuador's banana sector

Representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by resident representative Carlos Cáceres, conducted a technical visit to Ecuador’s banana sector to assess its productive dynamics and economic impact. The delegation visited production facilities and social projects in the Los Ríos and Guayas provinces, including a Reybanpac plantation and community initiatives by the Wong Foundation.

During the visit, industry leaders from the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador (AEBE) and various production companies discussed the sector's contributions to rural stability and formal employment. Key topics of discussion included private investments aimed at enhancing security for exportable goods, as well as regulatory, tax, and competitiveness challenges facing the industry in international markets.
