IMF delivers first US$211.3 million disbursement to Bolivia

The Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) confirmed the receipt of its first disbursement from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under a 36-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) totaling approximately US$211.3 million. This amount corresponds to 156.1 million Special Drawing Rights (SDR).

The reported figure differs from initial estimates of US$214 million, a discrepancy attributed to the fluctuating value of the SDR. Because the SDR is a reserve asset valued against a basket of currencies—including the US dollar, euro, British pound, Chinese yuan, and Japanese yen—its dollar equivalent changes daily. The BCB stated these funds are intended to strengthen international reserves and support the country's balance of payments.
