IMF mission reviews Ghana economic targets and fuel affordability

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission is concluding its first Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI) review in Ghana. The mission, led by Dr. Ruben Atoyan, is evaluating the country’s macroeconomic framework, fiscal performance, and revenue mobilization efforts.

Key areas of discussion include expenditure management, preparations for the 2027 budget, and the sustainability of recent economic gains. The team is also assessing the Bank of Ghana’s financial position, international reserves, and the inflation-targeting framework.

As part of the review, the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) participated in stakeholder engagements with the IMF, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Petroleum Authority. These discussions focused on the downstream petroleum sector, specifically addressing fuel affordability, foreign exchange supply, and the impact of government interventions on petroleum product availability.
