IMF supports US-China talks as Russia and China launch new business index
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed support for upcoming discussions between the leaders of the United States and China, noting that engagement between the two largest economies is vital for global economic stability. IMF Communications Director Julie Kozack stated that finding ways to navigate tensions between Washington and Beijing is beneficial for both nations and the broader global economy.
Separately, the IMF is monitoring the impact of United States secondary sanctions against Iran’s trading partners under Operation Economic Outcast. The Fund is currently reviewing the details of these measures and plans to provide a comprehensive assessment in its forthcoming World Economic Outlook.
In Moscow, the Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development of Russia and China announced the establishment of a Russia-China Business Confidence Index. Announced by Boris Zitov during the 7th Russia-China SME Industry Forum, the annual index will be based on entrepreneur surveys to identify trade barriers such as logistics, payments, and talent acquisition. The initiative aims to transition bilateral relations from simple import-export models toward joint production and technological cooperation.
