Imhend El Ansar addresses legislative election defeat in Boulemane
Imhend El Ansar, the former Minister of the Interior and honorary president of the People's Movement Party, has addressed his defeat in the recent legislative elections in the Boulemane constituency.
El Ansar explained that his decision to return to active politics followed requests from local party members in Boulemane, despite his previous intention to step away from field operations. He noted that while he initially suggested seeking other candidates, local activists insisted on his candidacy.
He revealed that he had set a condition for his candidacy: if he won, he would resign his parliamentary seat to allow the second candidate on the list to take the position. He suggested this condition intensified competition for the second spot on the list, which may have influenced the final outcome. El Ansar attributed his loss to a late campaign start in a vast, geographically dispersed constituency and his decade-long absence from local field politics. He concluded by stating that he accepts the results and considers this chapter closed, while remaining available to support the party.
