Çimko to invest $200 million in Syrian cement factory
Çimko, a subsidiary of SANKO Holding, is launching a $200 million integrated cement factory investment in Aleppo, Syria. This project marks the first Turkish-origin integrated cement factory investment in the country.
Operating under a Build-Operate-Transfer model, the facility will be located in the Al-Muslimiyah area, chosen for its proximity to raw material quarries and major transportation corridors. The plant is designed to have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons of clinker and 2 million tons of cement. It is expected to provide direct employment for approximately 200 people.
A formal protocol was signed on October 1, 2026, between Adil Sani Konukoğlu, Chairman of SANKO Holding and Çimko, and Mahmud Fadile, General Manager of the Syrian cement and building materials company OMRAN. The investment aims to support the region's reconstruction efforts by providing a reliable local supply of construction materials and strengthening Çimko's international market presence.
