Immigration authorities detain 54 undocumented foreigners in Klang
Authorities detained 54 undocumented foreigners during an enforcement operation at the Meru Wholesale Market complex in Klang early this morning. The group consisted of 48 men and six women, aged between 18 and 51.
According to Selangor Immigration Deputy Director Mohmad Khusairi Kamarudin, the detainees include 29 Myanmar nationals, 16 from Bangladesh, four from Indonesia, three from India, and two from Nepal. Identified offenses included lacking identification documents, violating pass conditions, and overstaying.
The operation, conducted by the Selangor Immigration Department with assistance from various agencies, faced a brief disruption when the market complex lost power for approximately 10 minutes. Officials noted that some individuals attempted to evade inspection by fleeing the area, but were successfully apprehended for further documentation and investigation.
