Immigration Department of Malaysia raids illegal gambling dens in Pandan Jaya
The Immigration Department of Malaysia detained 15 undocumented foreigners during a special operation targeting illegal gambling premises in the Pandan Jaya area. The raid, which took place around 12:01 a.m., followed a month of intelligence gathering by the Special Intelligence and Operations Division.
The detainees, aged between 21 and 38, include individuals from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, and India. Preliminary investigations suggest they were involved in immigration violations, such as abusing passes, overstaying, or lacking valid travel documents. Among those detained were a Bangladeshi man and an Indonesian woman believed to be acting as premises caretakers and cashiers.
Authorities discovered that the gambling operations were conducted behind strict security measures, including CCTV surveillance and magnetic iron doors locked from the inside. The premises were reportedly only accessible to known or regular customers. During the raid, officials seized seven Indonesian passports, 31 tablets, 15 mobile phones, employee schedules, rental agreements, and RM1,674 in cash.
