Immigration requirements: Document certification in Germany and visa scrutiny in Thailand

Immigrants moving to Germany must utilize certified translations to ensure foreign documents are legally recognized by authorities. These translations must be performed by translators publicly appointed and sworn by a German regional court, providing a stamp and signature to confirm content accuracy. This process is essential for tasks such as registering marriages, recognizing educational qualifications, applying for social benefits, or securing employment.

In Thailand, authorities are intensifying inspections to prevent sham marriages used for obtaining residency. The Department of Provincial Administration has instructed all district offices to tighten scrutiny on marriages between Thai nationals and foreigners starting in 2026. This includes conducting separate interviews if suspicion arises. To qualify for a Non-Immigrant O marriage visa, a marriage must be legally registered at a district office (Amphur), as religious ceremonies alone do not satisfy legal requirements.
