Immovable Property Commission compensation nears 785 million pounds

The Immovable Property Commission (TMK) in northern Cyprus has reported that total compensation for property claims has reached approximately 784.8 million pounds. According to statistics released for the period ending October 30, 2026, the commission has processed 3,795 out of 8,828 total applications, representing a completion rate of roughly 43 percent.

Currently, 5,033 applications remain pending. In a single week, the total compensation amount increased by 1.7 million pounds following the resolution of eight additional files. While the figures reflect decided compensation, they do not necessarily indicate that all funds have been paid to the claimants.

Decisions regarding the restitution of property, exchange, or partial restitution remain limited compared to monetary compensation. The TMK was established under Law 67/2005 to evaluate claims from Greek Cypriots regarding properties in the north, serving as a domestic legal remedy recognized by the European Court of Human Rights.
