Immunotherapy advancements reported by Evotec, Plectonic, and BriaCell
Evotec SE and Plectonic Biotech have entered a research collaboration to develop a novel immunotherapy approach for solid tumors. The partnership combines Plectonic’s LOGIBODY® technology, which uses a logic-gated DNA-protein approach to recognize specific multi-antigen tumor signatures, with Evotec’s BiTco platform. The BiTco platform utilizes a proprietary CD2 antibody to provide costimulatory signals that enhance T-cell activity and persistence within the tumor microenvironment.
Separately, BriaCell Therapeutics has reached a genetic engineering milestone for its personalized whole-cell melanoma immunotherapy vaccine candidate. The company aims to offer a personalized approach that maintains the accessibility of an off-the-shelf vaccine by eliminating individualized manufacturing. This development follows significant interest in the personalized cancer vaccine sector, driven by recent advancements in mRNA vaccine technology.
