Immunology and cancer immunotherapy lecture series

A lecture series presented by the Université Permanente explores the mechanisms of the immune system and its role in combating pathogens and cancer. The sessions focus on adaptive immunity, specifically the functions of T and B lymphocytes. B lymphocytes recognize antigens and differentiate into memory cells and plasma cells that secrete antibodies, a process aided by CD4 T cells. Meanwhile, CD8 cytotoxic T cells provide a response against tumor cells or virus-infected cells.

The lectures are led by Dr. Nicolas Boisgerault, a researcher at the Centre de Recherche en Cancérologie et Immunologie Nantes-Angers (CRCINA) and an INSERM researcher. Dr. Boisgerault, who previously worked at the Mayo Clinic, specializes in developing original immunotherapy strategies, including the use of anti-tumor viruses, to treat aggressive cancers.
