Imo State hosts funeral rites for mother of former NCPC Executive Secretary

Funeral rites for Chief Mrs. Christiana Opara, mother of former Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission Executive Secretary Prof. John Kennedy Opara, were held in Imo State on August 7, 2026.

The ceremonies included a Requiem Mass in Abuja and a grand finale Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Umuopara Nguru. The event was attended by several prominent Nigerian figures, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience Jonathan, as well as Governors Alex Otti of Abia State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa State. Other attendees included former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
