Imo State residents and monarchs demand road repairs
Residents and traditional rulers in Imo State are calling on Governor Hope Uzodimma to urgently address the deteriorating condition of key roads in the region. In the Nguru Umuaro community of Ngor Okpala, locals held a protest to highlight a main access road that has become impassable. The road connects the community to the Ngor Okpala council headquarters and links to Ulakwo and Okehi, but its current state prevents access to farms, markets, schools, and churches.
Similarly, the Mbaise Council of Traditional Rulers has appealed for the rehabilitation of the Okpala-Ahiara-Abba Branch Road and other local routes. Eze Leo Nwokocha, Chairman of the council, noted that the poor road conditions have severely hindered economic activities and increased commuter suffering. He emphasized that while some local leaders have used personal resources to grade roads, the scale of the infrastructure needs in the Mbaise area requires government intervention.
