Imola emerges as potential host for Formula 1 season finale
Imola is increasingly viewed as the likely host for the 2026 Formula 1 season finale on December 6, should the scheduled races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi be cancelled. While an official announcement from Formula 1 is pending, several indicators suggest the Italian circuit is the primary fallback option.
Speculation has been fueled by hotel bookings in the Imola region and social media hints from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix account. Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali previously indicated that the season could end in Europe if the Middle Eastern races cannot be held safely. Although a decision regarding the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix may be delayed until October, paddock sources and insiders suggest that Imola is the expected alternative.
Racing Bulls team principal Alan Permane noted that teams are currently planning for the Middle Eastern races but will follow the guidance of Formula 1 and the FIA if changes occur. Meanwhile, Qatari authorities maintain that conditions in the country are safe for major international sporting events.
