Imola man arrested after threatening wife with knives

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Imola, Italy, following an attempted femicide against his cohabiting wife. According to Carabinieri investigators, the man woke his wife during the night and threatened her with a knife held to her chest, later brandishing a second, larger kitchen knife due to pre-existing grievances.

The victim managed to maintain calm and convinced the man to leave their residence in a car. They traveled to the Parco delle Acque Minerali area near the Imola circuit, where the woman took advantage of a moment of distraction to flee on foot. She was subsequently assisted by a passing motorist and taken to the Carabinieri station.

Following the report, authorities activated the ‘Codice Rosso’ (Red Code) protocol. The man was located after attempting suicide by jumping from a bridge over the Santerno river. He is currently under guard in a hospital and faces charges of aggravated attempted femicide and illegal possession of weapons or objects intended to cause offense.
