Šimon Nemec joins Calgary Flames in trade from New Jersey Devils

Slovak defenseman Šimon Nemec was dealt from the New Jersey Devils to the Calgary Flames. Calgary also received forward Maxim Tsyplakov and gave up three draft picks and prospect Étienne Morin. Nemec will wear number 71 and will be joined in Calgary by fellow Slovaks Martin Pospíšil and Samuel Honzák.

General manager Craig Conroy said Nemec is expected to slot into the top defensive pairing alongside Kevin Bahl and to feature on the power‑play unit. Head coach Ryan Huska, noted for developing defensemen, will oversee his growth. Nemec said he learned of the move while cooking dinner and expressed enthusiasm for the new opportunity.
