Šimon Nemec signs $36 million deal after trade to Calgary Flames

Slovak defenseman Šimon Nemec was traded by the New Jersey Devils to the Calgary Flames in a deal that also sent forward Maxim Tsyplakov to New Jersey and included a 2027 first‑round pick. Nemec signed a five‑year contract worth an average $7.25 million per season, making him the second‑highest‑earning Slovak player in the NHL.

Forward Jakub Demek, another Slovak, spent a season plagued by repeated injuries, playing only four games for the Henderson Silver Knights before undergoing two operations. Despite the setbacks, the Vegas organization extended his contract, and he will continue his career with the farm team in the off‑season.

Analyst Pierre Bourget highlighted the potential availability of Slovak forward Pavel Regenda, who is currently unsigned after leaving the San Jose Sharks. Bourget suggested Regenda could be a low‑risk, cost‑effective addition to the Montreal Canadiens, fitting their need for depth in case of injuries.
