Imperatriz Leopoldinense advances 10 sambas to next competition phase

The samba school Imperatriz Leopoldinense has begun its competition to select the official samba-enredo for Carnaval 2027. Following an initial round featuring 27 competing partnerships, 10 sambas have been selected to advance to the next stage.

The theme for the upcoming parade, titled ‘A Memória do Rei e o Sumiço de Dona Júlia’, was developed by carnival designer Leandro Vieira. The school's president, Catia Drumond, noted that the current selection of compositions is among the best in recent years.

The second phase of the elimination process is scheduled to take place this Friday, August 21, at the school's headquarters in Ramos, Rio de Janeiro.
