Imperia to launch autonomous shuttle passenger trials

The city of Imperia is launching a passenger-carrying experiment with autonomous shuttles starting September 1, 2026. The trial involves a 2.5-kilometer route along a cycle-pedestrian path, connecting the former Porto Maurizio station to the former Oneglia station.

Scheduled stops include locations near the Cascione swimming pool, a new bicycle lift under the Municipality, and via Trento. The service operates on specific schedules through September 11, 2026.

Participation is voluntary and requires users to register and provide informed consent via a dedicated web portal. No app installation is necessary; users can register through a mobile or desktop browser. To ensure security and prevent misuse, passengers must create an account and use a dynamic QR code for identity verification by the onboard operator during boarding.
