Imperial Dinner at Villa Fidelia Highlights Roman Cuisine in Spello

A preview of the HISPELLVM 2026 cultural program was staged on 22 July at Villa Fidelia, the historic Umbrian sanctuary in Spello, Italy. The evening featured an “Imperial Dinner” that combined a Roman‑style banquet with theatrical performances, costumed actors, fire‑dance displays and musical recitations directed by Paolo Gramaccioni.

The set, designed by architect Giovanni Bianconi, recreated an imperial villa with a central water basin, torches and lanterns. Chef Francesco Panfili, assisted by culinary historian Daniele Falchi, served dishes inspired by the ancient chef Apicio, including a rose‑petal‑infused Aper Myrtatvs and a medieval ancestor of crème caramel. Over one hundred attendees, among them Spello mayor Moreno Landrini, Foundation for Perugia president Alcide Casini and local officials, praised the immersive experience that blended historical gastronomy with modern stagecraft.
