Imperva report shows bots account for over 53% of web activity

The Imperva Bad Bot Report 2026, based on 2025 global data, reveals that bots now account for more than 53% of all web activity. Human traffic represents 47% of the total, while approximately 40% of all analyzed movement is classified as malicious automation.

While some automated programs perform legitimate tasks—such as search engine crawling, system monitoring, or AI assistant queries—others are used for malicious purposes. These include data collection, account access attempts, fraudulent form filling, credit card testing, and click manipulation.

Digital marketing specialist Leandro Ferrari warns that businesses must exercise caution when interpreting metrics like visits and clicks. He notes that confusing technical activity with genuine commercial interest can lead to wasted investment, as bots do not necessarily result in sales or conversions.
