Impetuously wins Group 2 Bendigo Cup after late surge

Impetuously secured a thrilling victory in the Group 2 Bendigo Cup final, marking the largest win of trainer John Barbara’s career. Despite a poor start that left the youngster in last place, Impetuously surged through the field to win by a nose in a time of 23.71 seconds, claiming the $50,000 winner’s purse.

The victory follows a recent win for Impetuously in the Emerald final at Healesville. The dog’s performance improved her record to 10 wins from 18 starts.

Veteran greyhound Matt Loch, seeking a fourth country cup title, finished fourth in the final. Managed by Michelle Mallia, the nearly five-year-old dog had previously won the Warrnambool Cup and the Geelong Cup, but was unable to secure the Bendigo title despite a strong heat performance.
