Importaco to close Vall d'Alba plant, affecting 100 workers

Importaco, a food company specializing in nuts and dried fruits, has announced it will cease operations at its plant in Vall d'Alba. The decision follows a fire that occurred at the facility in May.

The closure is expected to affect approximately one hundred workers in the Plana Alta region of Castellón. While the company reported record revenues exceeding one billion euros last year and maintains a total workforce of 2,500, the management has not yet detailed specific alternatives or compensation for the Vall d'Alba staff.

The UGT FICA PV union expressed a ‘feeling of abandonment by the institutions,’ criticizing a lack of support for the interior regions of the Valencian Community and the ongoing issue of depopulation. The Vall d'Alba City Council also expressed deep regret, noting the severe impact the decision will have on numerous local families.
