IMPSA and NANO Nuclear Energy partner on microreactor development

Argentine engineering firm IMPSA has signed a strategic three-year agreement with U.S.-based NANO Nuclear Energy to support the industrial development of the KRONOS MMR™, a next-generation high-temperature gas-cooled microreactor.

During the initial six-month phase, IMPSA will conduct an independent design review and feasibility study for manufacturing critical components. A primary focus will be the reactor's pressure vessel, which IMPSA will evaluate against ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III standards to identify potential manufacturing, inspection, and supply chain challenges.

The partnership leverages IMPSA's four decades of experience in nuclear component manufacturing, including work on Argentina's Atucha II, Embalse, and CAREM projects. NANO Nuclear Energy aims to utilize this expertise to accelerate the production of its modular microreactor technology.
