Imran Tahir sets T20 record with five-wicket haul at age 47

Veteran South African spinner Imran Tahir has become the oldest player to record a five-wicket haul in men’s T20 cricket. Playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League, the 47-year-old delivered a standout performance against the St Lucia Kings, finishing with figures of 5/17 from his four overs.

Tahir’s spell dismantled the Kings' batting lineup, including the dismissal of Kamil Pooran. His performance helped the Guyana Amazon Warriors secure a four-wicket victory, chasing down a target of 120. This achievement breaks the previous record held by Cook Islands cricketer Tomakanute Ritava, who took five wickets at the age of 46 in 2022.

Tahir, who has played 461 T20 matches, credited his son for motivating him to continue his professional cricket career.
