IMS-BHU hosts HPV vaccination awareness drive

An awareness programme and health camp focused on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination was held at Sir Sunderlal Hospital, IMS-BHU, on September 22. The initiative, organized at the Centre of Excellence for Adolescent Health and Development, aimed to promote preventive healthcare and educate young adults on the role of vaccination in preventing HPV-related diseases, specifically cervical cancer.

During the event, 11 MBBS students received their first dose of the HPV vaccine. Medical professionals, including Prof. Sangeeta Rai from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Prof. DP Yadav from the Department of Gastroenterology, led the programme. Participants were briefed on recommended vaccination schedules, noting that individuals aged 9–14 typically require two doses, while those starting after age 14 generally require three doses.
