IMSS Chiapas performs high-complexity endovascular surgery

Specialists at the IMSS Hospital General Regional de Especialidades No. 13 in Chiapas successfully performed a high-complexity endovascular surgery to treat an iliac artery aneurysm. The procedure, which involved the endovascular exclusion of the aneurysm, was made possible by the state's first Hemodynamics Room, equipped with technology for minimally invasive cardiovascular and vascular interventions.

Dr. Estrella Denisse Rosas Zaragoza, a vascular surgeon and clinical coordinator of surgery at the hospital, noted that such procedures were previously unavailable in Chiapas. The availability of this specialized technology allows patients to receive life-saving treatment locally, eliminating the medical risks associated with traveling to Mexico City for complex surgeries. The use of endovascular techniques is expected to facilitate faster recovery times and reduce hospital stays.
