IMSS Clinic in Ciudad Madero Struggles with Stretchers Shortage and Doctor Reassignment

Patient Francisco Robles filmed himself lying on the floor of the IMSS Clinic 6 in Ciudad Madero after waiting 24 hours in a wheelchair, saying there were no stretchers available. He reported that about 70 other patients were receiving care in the same manner, while the facility also suffered air‑conditioning failures and extreme heat.

Following complaints by the patient‑rights group Guerreras con Turbante, the IMSS reassigned the physician Héctor Manuel, accused of mistreating oncology patients. Hospital director Karina Silva Vera and group leader Teresa Salinas López said the move was intended to ensure dignified, humane treatment for all right‑handed beneficiaries.
