IMSS completes hemodialysis unit in La Piedad, Michoacán
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has completed the construction of a new hemodialysis unit at the Hospital General de Subzona (HGSZ) No. 7 in La Piedad, Michoacán. The project, which involved an investment of 25 million pesos, covers a surface area of 472 square meters.
The facility is designed to provide renal replacement therapy for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the region, including those from neighboring areas of Guanajuato and Jalisco. By providing local treatment, the unit aims to eliminate the need for patients to travel to Zamora up to three times per week.
The unit features nine treatment stations plus one isolated space for patients requiring specific conditions. It includes specialized areas such as nephrology offices, stabilization areas, nutrition and social work services, a nursing station, and a dedicated water treatment system. José Miguel Ángel Van-Dick Puga, the head of IMSS in Michoacán, noted that the project was a collaborative effort between the institute and the local business sector.
