IMSS completes new hemodialysis unit in La Piedad, Michoacán

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Michoacán has completed a new hemodialysis unit at the General Subzone Hospital No. 7 in La Piedad. The 472-square-meter facility is designed to provide renal replacement therapy for patients with chronic renal insufficiency.

The unit includes nine treatment spaces, an isolation area for renal patients, a nephrology clinic, stabilization areas, and specialized support rooms for nutrition and social work. By providing local treatment, the facility aims to eliminate the need for patients to travel to Zamora up to three times a week for care.

IMSS official Dr. José Miguel Ángel Van-Dick Puga noted that the project was made possible through collaboration with the regional business sector to address serious health needs among local workers.
