IMSS denies emergency department crisis at Hospital General Regional No. 6 in Ciudad Madero

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) rejected reports of a crisis in the emergency department of Hospital General Regional No. 6 in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas. Hospital director Karina Silva Vera (also referenced as Karina Silvera) said she inspected the unit and found no patients on the floor or unattended individuals. She confirmed that all patients are being evaluated and monitored according to clinical need, and that staff—including doctors, nurses, social workers, technicians and radiologists—maintain continuous care.

The denial follows viral social‑media posts that showed a patient standing outside the hospital for about 14 hours, wearing a clinical gown and an IV catheter, which had sparked accusations of inadequate care. IMSS stated that the emergency service operates normally and that protocols for patient triage are being applied correctly.
