IMSS holds specialty surgery days for thyroid and eye patients in Mexico

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) organized two specialty surgical outreach events. In Guamúchil, Sinaloa, a thyroid surgery day was conducted at Hospital General de Subzona No. 30, where six insured patients aged 35 to 62 underwent procedures including total thyroidectomies and one parotid gland resection. IMSS Sinaloa director Tania Clarissa Medina López highlighted the effort to provide high‑quality specialist care locally, supported by IMSS director‑general Zoé Robledo.

Separately, an ophthalmology day took place at Hospital General de Zona con Medicina Familiar No. 5 in Zacatepec, Morelos. Eighty‑eight beneficiaries received cataract removal and intra‑ocular lens implantation, restoring their vision. The event was overseen by Dr. Ivette Mena Quintanar, who stressed the multidisciplinary coordination required. Both initiatives aimed to reduce waiting times, avoid patient transfers, and improve health outcomes for IMSS right‑holders.
