IMSS launches summer recreation program for over 11,000 Mexican children

The Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) inaugurated the "Verano IMSS Imparable 2026" summer course, offering safe spaces for more than 11,000 minors across Mexico to engage in sports, cultural, and health‑promotion activities. The opening ceremony at the Unidad Deportiva Morelos featured basketball, volleyball, football, taekwondo, boxing, aquatic games and regional dance, with special guests including presidents of Mexican sports committees, world‑champion athletes, and the mascot "pato Merlín".

IMSS officials emphasized the program’s preventive health benefits. Zoé Robledo, representing the IMSS director‑general, said, "damos el banderazo de salida deseando que este curso esté lleno de sonrisas, nuevos retos, amistades, grandes experiencias y mucha diversión para todas y todos." Luis Iván Camacho Morales highlighted the importance of discipline, good nutrition and active recreation for physical and mental well‑being.
