IMSS Opens New Hospital General de Zona No.10 in Guanajuato

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) has completed construction of Hospital General de Zona No. 10 in the capital of Guanajuato. The second‑level facility includes 120 beds—72 censable and 48 non‑censable—8 intensive‑care beds, three fully equipped operating rooms, an emergency department with 18 beds and a modern tomographer. It will serve more than 245,000 IMSS beneficiaries in the state and neighboring municipalities such as Dolores Hidalgo, San Luis de la Paz, San José Iturbide and San Diego de la Unión. The project is part of a federal program announced by President Claudia Sheinbaum and IMSS director Zoé Robledo, which aims to build 21 new hospitals across Mexico.

Separately, the Guanajuato state health system was awarded first place nationally for the quality of care provided to patients with diabetes and for the follow‑up of people with hypertension. Governor Libia García Muñoz Ledo said the system had treated more than 203,000 patients with chronic conditions, offering regular consultations, monitoring and preventive education. The recognitions highlight the broader effort to improve public health services in the region.
