IMSS partners with Brazil to boost resilient hospitals in Latin America

From July 27 to 29, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) hosted a delegation from Brazil's Ministry of Health and specialists from the Pan American Health Organization (OPS) for a high‑level technical exchange on building and operating resilient hospitals. The program included conferences, workshops and field visits to the Hospital General de Zona (HGZ) under construction in Yecapixtla, Morelos, and the operational HGZ No. 252 in Atlacomulco, State of Mexico. Participants discussed integrating safety, sustainability, accessibility and climate‑risk preparedness into hospital design and daily operations.

Separately, IMSS officials in Puebla, led by state director María Magdalena Tinajero Esquivel, conducted inspections of several medical units, including family medicine clinics and HGZ No. 15. The tour focused on improving medication supplies, equipment maintenance, staffing levels and overall service quality, as part of an ongoing continuous‑improvement strategy for the institute’s facilities across the state.
