IMSS pension: Mandatory survival verification and payment claims

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has issued a notice regarding mandatory survival verification procedures for certain pensioners. Beneficiaries must check their monthly payment receipts to determine if they are required to appear in person at their clinic window. If a receipt contains the instruction “acude a ventanilla para obtener el beneficio” (go to the window to obtain the benefit), the individual must complete the data update to avoid the immediate suspension of pension payments starting in October.

Conversely, if the receipt states “el IMSS elimina la comprobación de supervivencia en ventanilla” (IMSS eliminates survival verification at the window), no in-person appearance is necessary. Additionally, for those who receive incomplete pension deposits or notice missing monthly payments, IMSS provides a formal clarification process. This procedure, identified by code IMSS-01-029-A, allows pensioners to claim unpaid amounts or differences in their payments by presenting identification and bank details at the Control de Prestaciones Económicas of their assigned Family Medicine Unit.
