Guanajuato officials report 76% drop in homicides amid security coordination

Guanajuato Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo is strengthening security coordination with the Mexican federal government. Following meetings with Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch, officials reported a 76% decrease in the daily average of homicides, dropping from 12.7 to 3.1 victims. Additionally, highway transport robberies have decreased by 21%. To further enhance intelligence capabilities, the Governor visited the DEA-led El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) in Texas.

In economic news, the Guanajuato local Congress approved an initiative allowing the State Social Security Institute (ISSEG) to auction approximately 150 recovered properties to recover overdue debt and secure pension funds.

In the State of Mexico, authorities are reviewing the Integral Plan for the Eastern Zone, focusing on infrastructure, education, health, and water projects across 10 municipalities. Meanwhile, in Coahuila, legislative efforts are underway to ensure the continuity of childcare services during the transition from subcontracted nurseries to the IMSS-managed Centers for Education and Child Care (CECI).
