Imtiaz Ali's 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' celebrates Punjab music and earns actor praise

Actor Vedang Raina praised Imtiaz Ali’s period romantic drama *Main Vaapas Aaunga*, saying the film “changed everything for me” and highlighted his work alongside Sharvari, Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh and composer A.R. Rahman. The movie, set against the 1947 Partition of India, explores love, loss and memory and opened in Indian theatres on June 12, 2026.

Ali described the film’s accompanying album as a “celebration of Punjab’s musical heritage”, noting the blend of 1947 folk and Western influences in tracks such as “Ishq Mastana” and “Maskara”. He highlighted contributions from new singers—including Deepali, Heer, Antara, Adithya and Vipin—and quoted A.R. Rahman: “Music becomes the language of the unspoken… giving a voice to the silence within the story.” The album features songs like “Dheere Dheere”, “Heer; Tere Paas Main” and “Dariya”.
