Imtiaz Ali's 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' opens North American advance ticket sales a week early

Advance ticket bookings for Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film "Main Vaapas Aaunga" will open in the United States and Canada on 5 June, a full week before the worldwide theatrical release scheduled for 12 June 2026. The early rollout follows strong demand from the South Asian diaspora in North America, which the director described as a "very heartening sign" and an "offering of love".

The Partition‑era drama, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina, has topped IMDb’s list of the most‑anticipated Indian movies for 2026. Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, the film explores themes of love and loss against the backdrop of the historic Partition, which Ali says he hopes will foster camaraderie rather than hatred.

Ali expressed gratitude for the unexpected early bookings, noting that the story’s resonance with overseas audiences reflects a deep connection to its themes of love and longing.
